Welcome the third of our blog series where we chat to BC Beauty Training students to find out more about their journey.

This time we are talking to Paula Mendes.

Paula studied with us in Autumn 2018 and travelled to England all the way from Brazil(!) to add three new beauty skills to her already impressive skillset.

What were you doing before your training?

I have a small accommodation business in Brazil, but I have also worked as an auxiliary nurse for over ten years as well as nine years as a beauty therapist. With these jobs I have had lots of experience helping patients recover from surgery by doing facial and body treatments as well as lymphatic drainage massage.

How did you come across BC Beauty Training, and what did you study?

I wanted to study a course in England to improve my English as well as my beauty skills, and found BC Beauty Training while conducting research online.

In England I did three courses: e-file, acrylic extensions and acrylic sculpting, to go along with the courses I had previously completed in Brazil in massage, manicure and pedicure.

I do think that to learn about beauty is to learn about health too, and I plan to never stop studying it. There is so much to learn and it is important to constantly renew your technical knowledge about it as well!

And how was your experience with the training?

My experience during training was amazing. I was trained by Laura, who was very patient and explained things very clearly. I improved a lot of my skills and Laura also gave me lots of advice about the right sort of products to use as well.

I felt like I was in very good hands throughout the training courses and I am now able to do a very good nails job!

What’s next now you’ve finished these courses?

I am currently in Brazil, but my plan is to practise both as much as possible to prepare myself for a move to Portugal next year, where I hope to open my own business.
